Who's Involved

Teenage Cancer Trust
Every day in the UK six young people are told they have cancer. At a time when your body is changing, your social life is everything and you’re still trying to figure out who you are, getting cancer can seem like an impossible blow to take. But thanks to Teenage Cancer Trust, thousands of teenagers are taking it, and coming out fighting.

By building specialist units in NHS hospitals, Teenage Cancer Trust provides the best possible care and professional support for young people with cancer and their families throughout their cancer journey.

As well as our units we fund a number of different services, all with the same goal – to help young people fight cancer. Part of this is our education and awareness programme. Our education team gives talks in schools, colleges, universities and clubs across the UK to let young people know about cancer, prevention and healthy living, empowering them to take control of their own health. www.teenagecancertrust.org

Lloyd Scott
Twenty years ago Lloyd, who is best known for completing the London marathon in a deep sea diving suit, was diagnosed with leukaemia and was one of the very first recipients of a bone marrow transplant which saved his life. He spent his time in hospital in an environment where all of the people around him were elderly and dying of cancer.

Lloyd said: “Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity very close to my heart having survived leukaemia at a young age. I wanted to do something big for the charity this year to celebrate my life saving transplant and you can’t get much bigger than a life-size dinosaur! I very nearly died when I underwent my transplant, so I guess I have come a long way from that time.”
